The sport of bodybuilding has participants that are statistically more athletic than most other sports. There are people that are saying that bodybuilding can’t be sport because they don’t really do anything that make it a sport and don’t do anything like football player and hockey player can do. They just think they are just big guys that just take steroids and get big and pose naked it. Most people who do bodybuilder are people who had play basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. They could have done these sport but they chose not to. It’s a bodybuilder right now name Trey Brewer that is 24 years old who play a fullback on his high school football team. In his time before bodybuilding, trey brewer ran a 4. 62 40 yard dash. Trey Brewer had done 46 consecutive reps of 185 lbs of bench press. He had also competed in power lifting where everyone is saying that is a sport and did competitions around the state. He broke the football record that in NFL no one ever did. Trey Brewer chose to competition in bodybuilding beside of going to college and playing football where most of colleges want him to play. In other sports such as hockey player are tested with 135 lbs on bench to be professional in their position. Basketball player are use to bench 185 to move on to be professional. Football players test with 225 reps to get put in the NFL. Where Professional bodybuilders, bench press 315 lbs around all day long without need to get to be a bodybuilder. Bodybuilder can do what a football player, hockey player, and basketball player can do. Bodybuilders are much better and conduction than a football player or any other sport player, but have there out competitively in their side and different. The competitiveness comes from the physique of the body, instead of performance though it looks as a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding is a sport because the competitiveness isn’t just how well they perform; it deals with the total of conditioning to get ready for a competition. Bodybuilder has to go through 24/7 of training and dieting all year long. They do not have any time to slack of doing this sport. When they are on stage, the bodybuilder is very dehydrating with 1% of water in their body, so that it can look very physique and can be very unhealthy. People who Other athletes can slack throughout the week and come in mentally prepared for a game day because they don’t have to worry about how they look regardless of how they body is looking but as long as they are in shape and good. They can go out and party and smoke and still go out for a game day here bodybuilder can’t do all that because of how they have to keep their physique of a body and do not anything where there body cannot handle while training for competition. In off season they can cheat and eat whatever they want to eat but still have to work out and still have to at least eat health to keep some muscle and physique on their body where they just all have to do is train. They can gain weight but not fat and enjoy their life and family as long they just don’t give up doing what they been training to do for the longest of period of time. Bodybuilding is not sports where you can do a competition and go out and eat whatever food that is around and not exercises. Bodybuilding has extreme amounts of weight training that can be very strict of dieting as well as other sacrifices. In competition, they drink less water within three day by cutting down there sodium and most bodybuilder get on this diet to be shredded of their physique body figure. Males are not the only one who just does bodybuilding. Females do the same training and diet process as the male does it and the difference that has in competing is, less posing on stage and that they have female body part. Where guys have male body part but they all are doing the same sport dieting and training. Bodybuilder normally don’t party unless they have a get together or friend or family parties they normally spend their time in the gym working out and training very to make sure they succeed of winner. They mostly have very little fun doing their free time. Bodybuilder diets are very strict for losing fat and gaining muscle. They have to eat about six to eight small meal. They can be defined as the pursuit for lean muscle mass. They have a saying where they use is call â€Å"KISS†. It means keep is simple, smart of dieting. They have to eat 21/2 to 3 hours apart throughout the day. It will keep the metabolism going and let it provide for the muscles. It has to consist of protein, carbohydrates and some small amounts of good fats. Protein is an important key for bodybuilding and getting lean. They cannot fry any foods that are related to fatty food. The only time they can have carbohydrates, is like a potatoes, rice, yams, and most important is fruit. They how strict they have to deal with. A normal person should have about at least 8 hours of sleep. A bodybuilder has to get enough sleep to accomplish what they want. They have strict sleeping habits that they get about 16 hours of sleep but get up at four in the morning to start there day off. Most athletic just sleep whenever and go to practice or game day. Bodybuilder has to make sure they get plenty of rest to recovery and start fresh for a good day of exercise/working out. Bodybuilder has to get a day off so that their body is not over doing it and won’t get any gain from it. Bodybuilding training is very strict where they work out 6 to 7 days of week. Doing bodybuilding and any other sport, they have to get in shape to look the best and to be the best. Bodybuilder lifts heavy weights to gain muscle and size. They have to get at least 45 minutes to hour in. Bodybuilder shouldn’t have to over work there body with the same workout every day. They should do one workout one body part like for example arms should be just for that day until next week and next day can be chest day. It can be a good gain of muscle mass. The workout can cause injuring. Training completed by overcoming the resistance of working is called resistance training. Bodybuilder is training of free weights or a weight stack on a machine that help them grow muscle. Bodybuilding is a performance for competition that appearance of extreme muscular athletes that workout in the gym. It can be not a safe sport but sometime can also be health for people. Bodybuilding is not all about just strength. It’s about every since of individual muscle. Bodybuilding not about how much weight you can lift or how fast a person can go. If they are not in good shape for contest to get on stage, then they shouldn’t do bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is about who the best look and who have more muscle is shredded. People think that bodybuilding is all about how big you are. That not true, you can look small but build with small muscle with abs, biceps, and legs. That is why bodybuilder is judge of the physique of looking very good and better than the other person. There are females that do bodybuilding that most people think that they can’t do. There is female’s bodybuilder that looks better then a male bodybuilder that they work as hard as male that spend in the gym a short amount of time. It is hard for females to gain muscle than male because how the female body is build. It not really made for a bodybuilder body. They have to stay in the gym all day long 24/7 with dieting to get with a guy who has it easy. A guy can lose more fat then a female, of the reason that a guy bone is stronger than a female bone. Female can also do what a guy can do, that how this sport can go about. Everyone say that bodybuilding don’t have the same concept as for a team who is playing basketball and football. If you are doing competition and working hard to win something it is a sport. If hunting or fishing a sport, of course bodybuilding is a sport. Where the NBA and NFL have one thing that one person is going after on trophy and have competition to be the best at something, they call it a sport. Where bodybuilding have multiply competition and different kinds of trophy, they are doing competition to see who is the best shape and have the best physique body against someone else. Every sport has their own different kinds of competition, and don’t have to be known as all everywhere on TV. If you are challenging someone at something and want to win and train to work hard to be the best, of getting a trophy prize of being the best. It should be a sport and no one should not judge something if they don’t know the meaning of something. Bodybuilding can be a sport where a person can do something better than other person and if people like Trey Brewer, who ran a 4. 62 40 dash and bench over his own weight and do a lot of reps. It is a sport. People should look outside the box to see what a sport is. Bodybuilder train so hard and make some much sacrifices to be the best and win. They are on a strict diet and can’t have any cheap meals that allow them to be in the best shape of their life. Bodybuilding is a sport and everyone should know and get into the sport. It is making its way to the so it can be known just like the NBA and NFL.

The Octopus essays

The Octopus essays One of the most significant inventions to come of age in America in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was the railroad. It developed new forms of communication and transportation, which in turn revolutionized the ideologies of the nation in relation to the economy and social values. Railroads not only created a rush to get to the West, but also modernized the American way of life. Along with many positive aspects of this modern marvel there were those who used it to their advantage and to the disadvantage of others. As the years went by, the railroad industry became monopolized by a few individuals, who exploited individuals such as farmers and laborers. This heavy struggle became Frank Norris inspiration for writing the muckraking novel, The Octopus. The Octopus, depicts the conflict between farmers and the Powers associated with the railroads, but it all didnt come about so quickly. The origins for the conflict go back to the earlier settlers of California. The vast expanse of land, beautiful scenery, and unique climate made California a farmers heaven. The settlers made use of their land wisely, but were overtaken by the next set of settlers, the gold miners. A lot of the money that was made during the Gold Rush, was in turn used to buy out some of the farmers or even buy large parcels of land for themselves for farming. Norris uses Magnus Derrick and his family to support the idea of miners turning into farmers, and in this case, a wheat farmer. Norris also depicts farmers who had recently come to California with Annixter, Broderson, and Osterman. The railroad began its grasp on California with the idea of the Transcontinental Railroad. Leland Stanford and the Big Four took complete control of the state as their new idea spread instantly around the west like an octopus, which is the title of Norris novel. As they complete mile after mile...

Theories of Human Communication, the social media and the Arab spring Essay

Theories of Human Communication, the social media and the Arab spring - Essay Example The first wave of such a change was felt with the advent of mobile phones and the short messaging services (SMS) offered by them. Electronic media like e-mail and instant messaging followed next. Just when it seemed that communication couldn’t get any better, social media and networking via the internet took over, bringing people from every nook and corner of the world together onto a single platform. Though the world has been called a ‘global village’ since the beginning of this century, it was in this decade that the label served its true purpose. Human communication has attained a new definition, and is now at its full force through social media. Social media has been the major driving force behind the Arab uprising that is reverberating in the Arab world today, and it is only through social media that people are at freedom to voice their thoughts and fight for what they deserve. According to S.F. Scudder, "All living entities, beings and creatures communicate. They communicate through movements, sounds, reactions, physical changes, gestures, languages, breath, etc†1. This statement is a part of the theory of communication and is known as the ‘Universal Communication Law’. Indeed, communication is an integral part of living, and it is impossible to survive without it. Communication models and their relevance in today’s times Adler and Rodman, in their insightful book, Understanding Human Communication, describe two different modes of communication, namely linear and transactional. According to the linear communication model, â€Å"communication is like giving an injection: a sender encodes ideas and feelings into some sort of message and then conveys them to a receiver who decodes them† (12). Face-to-face contact and other conventional channels like writing are included in this form of communication. The transactional model of communication is more fluidic and relational. There is a â€Å"simultaneous sen ding and receiving† of messages. This kind of communication includes mass media2 and social interaction. Face-to-face communication is decreasing rapidly, with the advent of social networking and electronic means of communication. In fact, many major surveys have pointed out that those who are more prone to the use of social networks are less likely to maintain face-to-face interactions in daily life. This brings us to the relevance of the linear mode of communication. While it is still a necessity in daily commute, human communication in recent times is largely based on the transactional model. Everyone is turning towards video conferencing, instant messaging, tweeting, and social networking in order to â€Å"stay in touch† with acquaintances. How social media defines our lives today An assessment of the impact of social media, in recent times, indicates that a majority of the population depends on the internet for most of their daily needs. As described by Adler and R odman: Until recently, most social support came from personal acquaintances: friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and so on. In the last ?fteen years, though, there has been an explosion of â€Å"virtual communities† in which strangers meet online to share interests and concerns, and to gain support from one another on virtually every problem. The most popular support topics include medical conditions, eating disorders, sexual orientation, divorce, shyness, addictions, and loneliness (140). As is evident from this scenario,

Remediation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Remediation - Essay Example Ideas are used over and over again, as they all still prove to be useful when trying to convey a message to a specific audience. The purpose of remediation is to take an original idea and make it presentable to various audiences, so that the message becomes more widespread and easier for certain audiences to understand, such as though that might be younger or older, or those that prefer a certain media medium. As times and technology changes, so do the methods of conveying a media message or story. Different audiences depend on the forms of media that appeal most to them, so each media medium must be taken into consideration when in regards to getting a message out to a specific population. The more appealing a medium is, the more appealing the message will be, if not easier to understand. The original bit of media used in this project is the "I am your father" scene from The Empire Strikes Back. The form of media is a motion picture, and the scene is one that is well-known, even amongst those who have never seen the movie. It is a scene that is often repeated and parodied in other media forms. The constant reusing of this scene is a prime example of remediation, as it shows the different ways that old media - in this case, a famous scene from a movie - is formed into a piece of new media that would be more appealing to a contemporary audience, such as when it is used on popular, contemporary television shows like Family Guy. The first form of media that I created using the aforementioned scene from The Empire Strikes Back is a Facebook news feed. The news feed shows the two different characters, Luke and Darth Vader, conversing, via Facebook, about the same topic that can be seen in the original media form: Darth Vader telling Luke that he is, in fact, his father. The communications are simple, yet it conveys everything that can be found in the scene in the motion

Efficiency Of Municipal Solid Waste Collection Essay Example for Free

Efficiency Of Municipal Solid Waste Collection Essay Solid waste has become an urban issue that gives evidence to the greatly increasing economic activities in the municipalities and poses a challenge thereto. As both an issue and a challenge, it requires a collaboration of efforts from the government and the private citizens of the municipalities. Related issues that would have to be checked and considered as well include the need for a change in the people’s overall lifestyle, their manner of resource consumption and allocation of their increasing income. The socio-economic, legal, health, environmental and cultural aspects of the municipalities would have to be revisited and made to contribute to the solid waste management programs of the government. (Jhaet. al. , 2007). Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is a type of waste that, in particular, is not carried by water or air. The Federal Government of United States of America defines solid waste as any discarded material that is not excluded (40 CFR 261. 2; Mihelcic and Hutzler, 1999). Therefore, MSW is composed of the degradable, the partially degradable, and the non-degradable wastes. Degradable MSW includes paper, textiles, food wastes, straw and yard wastes; partially degradable waste includes wood and sludge, and non-degradable wastes include leather, plastics, rubber, metal, glass, dust and electronic waste. (Jha et. al. , 2007). The collection and disposal of the domestic wastes – whether degradable or non-degradable – over a period of years over-burdens the landfill. The continuous loading, dumping and subsequent accumulation of garbage all have a long-term effect on the environment (Sharholy et. al. , 2007). Hence, there is a growing awareness of the need to study the negative impact of solid wastes on the environment and human health, particularly in the areas adjoining the landfill sites (Srinivas, 1998). One city in India that is burdened by the dilemma caused by the rising volume of its MSW generation is Chennai. Chennai is the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu and is located at 13. 04 degrees latitude and 80 degrees longitude in Southern India. It is one of the four major metropolitan cities in India – the other three being New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata – with a total area coverage of 174 sq km, 19 km in length and 9 km in width (Figure 1) (Chennai Map, 2000). The population in Chennai has reached five million. One of the oldest corporations in India is the Corporation of Chennai, which was established on the 29th of 1688 by the East India Company (COC, 2004). Corporation of Chennai is the civic body that governs the city of Chennai. With the mayor as its head, the Corporation of Chennai has 155 councilors representing the 155 wards of the city. (Wikipedia) To do its mandate, the Corporation of Chennai has various departments attending to their respective duties and tasks. The departments are as follows: the Council Department, the General Administration, the Financial Management Unit, the Land Estate Department, the Revenue Department, the Health Department, the Family Welfare Department, the Education Department, the Parks Play Fields, and the Engineering Departments. The latter, in turn, are namely as follows: the Works Department, the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Electrical Department, the Buildings Department, the Storm Water Drain Department, the Bridges Department, and the Solid Waste Management Department. (COC website) Thus, the Corporation of Chennai is involved in the general upkeep and administration of the city, and the SWM in Chennai is but one of its concerns. The past 20 years has brought in industrial development to Chennai, and with it came both population growth and increased MSW generation (Esaku, 2007). The Corporation of Chennai has divided the area into ten zones for MSW collection and clearing (COC, 2004). The wastes generated by these ten zones are collected by either the Corporation of Chennai or the Neel Metal Fanlca, a private municipal solid waste collection body. The collection system involves getting the garbage through door-to-door visits and the setting up of garbage bins by the roadside in the streets. The collected wastes are transported via heavy mechanical vehicles (HMVs) or light mechanical vehicles (LMVs) to the transfer stations or directly to the city’s two dump sites, namely, the Perungudi and the Kodungaiyur dump sites. These wastes are mostly yet to be segregated; they are predominantly made up of organic and debris wastes (Sharholy, 2008). The segregation of wastes, though, is not effectively achieved in Chennai as a whole. Source or domestic segregation is practiced in a few areas in Chennai. Such practice contributes to the recycling of wastes like paper, plastic and metals. Still, it remains that the major contributors of recycled wastes are the rag pickers who collect wastes from the dumpsites and the municipal bins. Chennai, the fourth largest metropolitan city in India, currently faces the problem of having to efficiently handle and dispose of its growing volume of MSW (Esaku, 2007). The average volume of its generated MSW has increased from 600 tons/day to 3500 tons/day (Esaku, 2007). There has hitherto been no concrete and effective management measure taken to counteract this problem. Chennai is also accounted for having the highest per capita waste generation in India (Sharholy, 2008). The inefficiency of the garbage collection system in Chennai is due to the improper distribution of manpower, the ineffective work force, the incompetent collection methodology, the lack of public awareness and the scarce civic sense among the people. My study focuses on determining whether the allotment of additional manpower and vehicles for MSW collection would improve the efficiency of the garbage collection and disposal system of Chennai. My hypothesis is that proper allocation of manpower and vehicles to each zone, if implemented right by the Corporation of Chennai and the Neel Metal Fanalca, will significantly increase the efficiency of MSW collection and disposal in the city. My study would help the Corporation of Chennai and the Neel Metal Fanalca to improve the MSW collection and disposal in the city of Chennai. The city has been dubbed as â€Å"The City Beautiful† (COC website). To preserve its status as a place of beauty, the city government and its people should then act fast to solve the problems caused by the mounting volume of MSW continuously generated therein.

Inventory Management System Essay

He suggests, though, that for the endurance of your business and the future of your applications as a whole, you go with something like PHP that has a good solid community and is in constant development to make it and its features better. The flexibility that PHP offers also means that the possibility for someone to write nasty code that works (for now) goes up greatly. * Adobe Dreamweaver [Heaton (1998)] According to Heaton (1998), he states that,â€Å"I personally recommend Dreamweaver to both learners and seasoned experts’ think Adobe can make is more accessible to people by having various versions of it much like Elements is a poor man’s Photoshop, there should be a cut down version of DW. So in my opinion  no, it is not just an overpriced text editor. Dreamweaver is a powerful and highly applicable tool that every designer should be able to own. * Inventory [Donald Reimer (1989)] According to Donald Reimer (1989), â€Å"Today, maintaining the right inventory levels is a tough challenge. If not properly managed, your inventory can result in a significant expense. Looking over your shoulder is the lender who is concerned about the cost of carrying too much inventory- which can affect profitability. † * Inventory System [Michael Bernacchi (2002)] According to an author Michael Bernacchi (2002),an inventory systems maintain information about activities within firms that ensure the delivery of products to customers. The subsystems that perform these functions include sales, manufacturing, warehousing, ordering, and receiving. In different firms the activities associated with each of these areas may not be strictly contained within separate subsystems, but these functions must be performed in sequence in order to have a well-run inventory control system. According to Godwin Udo (1993), given such developments, it is little wonder that business experts commonly cite inventory management as a vital element that can spell the difference between success and failure in today’s keenly competitive business world. Writing in production and inventory Management Journal, Godwin Udo described telecommunications technology as a critical organizational asset that can help a company realize important competitive gains in the area of inventory management. He noted that companies that make good use of this technology are far better equipped to succeed than those who rely on outdated or unwieldy methods of inventory control. According to Dennis Eskow (1990), automation can dramatically impact all phases of inventory management, including counting and monitoring of inventory items; recording and retrieval of item storage location; recording changes to inventory; and anticipating inventory needs, including inventory handling requirements. This is true even of stand-alone systems that are not integrated with other areas of the business, but many analysts indicate that productivity and hence profitability gains that are garnered through use of automated systems can be increased even more when a business integrates its inventory control systems with other systems such as accounting and sales to better control inventory levels. As Dennis Eskow noted in PC Week, business executives are â€Å"increasingly integrating financial data, such as accounts receivable, with sales information that includes customer histories, the goal: to control inventory quarter to quarter, so it doesn’t come back to bite the bottom line. Key components of an integrated system are general ledger, electronic data interchange, database connectivity, and connections to a range of vertical business applications. † In the latter part of the 1990’s, may businesses invested heavily in integrated order and inventory systems designed to keep inventories at a minimum and replenish stock quickly. But business owners have a variety of system integration options from which to choose, based on their needs and financial liquidity. At the same time that these integrated systems have increased in popularity, business observers have suggested that â€Å"stand-alone† systems are falling into disfavor. A 1996 study by the international Mass Retail Association, for example, concluded that stand alone Warehouse Management System Packages acquired to perform individual functions will soon become obsolete because they do not integrate well with other systems. Another development of which small business vendors should be aware is a recent trend wherein powerful retailers ask their suppliers to implement vendor-managed inventory systems; these arrangements place the responsibility for inventory management squarely on the shoulders of the vendors. Under such an agreement, the vendors obtain warehouse or point of sale information from the retailer and use that information to make inventory restocking decisions. The move toward automation in inventory management naturally has moved into the warehouse as well, citing various warehousing experts, Sarah Bergin contended in transportation and distribution magazine that â€Å"the key to getting productivity gains from inventory management is placing real-time processing in the ware house uses combinations of hardware including material handling and data collection technologies, but according to these executive, the intelligent part of the system is sophisticated software which automates and controls all aspects of warehouse operations. Another important component of good inventory management is creation and maintenance of a sensible, effective warehousing design. A well-organized, user-friendly warehouse layout can be of enormous benefit to small business owners, especially if they are involved in processing large colymes of goods and materials. Conversely, an inefficient warehouse system can cost businesses dearly in terms of efficiency, custom er service, and ultimately profitability. Transportation and distribution magazine cited several steps that businesses utilizing warehouse storage systems can take to help ensure that they get the most out of their facilities.
